About Suzuki Music S.A.

The Suzuki Method is a music education approach developed by the great Japanese humanitarian and educator Dr Shinichi Suzuki.

The Suzuki Method is a way of learning music that is based on the way all children learn to speak. Children learn to speak by listening, repeating, imitating, practising and remembering words.

Just as all children learn to speak in a language-rich environment, Suzuki believes that a music-rich environment develops musical enjoyment and ability in all children.

Suzuki Music SA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to following the  principles and philosophies of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.

Dr Suzuki’s unique method of music education has been a positive influence in the lives of children and families the world over for more than 60 years.

Founded in 1978, Suzuki Music SA has educated thousands of young South Australians in musical excellence.

Today, the Association provides training and support for Suzuki teachers and a vibrant and active musical community where our Suzuki families can learn and grow.

The Suzuki Method is renowned for producing students of the highest ability and many of today’s young professional musicians began learning music with this system.

Using the principles of the “Mother Tongue” approach, Suzuki students learn to master their instrument in the same way they learned to speak their native language.

This natural approach to teaching music is based on the belief that musical talent is not inborn but instead exists in every human being. This talent can be nurtured up to the highest level in every student with persistence and love.
